if it's just a song to keep us in the universe when the wars are waging i will be strong there's no chance we can lose this fight with the love that i'm facing with a note so long when the morning comes we'll know the truth ( the sun will forever keep rising )

All I can ask is that this stupid, senseless war is over in time for my children to have something resembling a childhood.

German lesson for 18/5:
Backpfeifengesicht: Someone who has a face that is just begging to be hit with a fist, because the only way to successfully get through to them is with violence.
For example. While at work today, I was passing by some interns in another department to drop off some translations when these two girls (fresh out of Hogwarts last year, frequently with teased hair and far more blue eye makeup than should be legal) suddenly got quiet and stared. You know -- when people just sort of peer at you as you walk by, a little smirky expression on their face. As soon as I passed their desks, they proceeded to whisper, then burst into laughter.
Those two girls? Proud owners of backpfeifengesichts.

Not to follow a certain trend in these journals or anything, but if someone else that is fluent in seven-and-three-quarters languages is really just hurting for a job, please -- make a plea to my boss and my boss's boss to take my job. If it really means that much.
Because it's horrific enough that we have the audacity to exist at all. How wretched of us to try to make rent and eat on occasion as well.

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." Matthew 7:1-5

I picked up Lacey from nursery school today after work and she very proudly presented me with this painting. ( Wave your wand! )
Out of the mouth of babes.
I was very impressed at her spelling and worried that she was suddenly too smart for her own good -- apparently she asked the teacher to help her, because she "wanted it to be perfect, Mummy". Turns out, then, that she's still too smart.

It's hard to believe, but our little peanut turned one today. It seems like I had just found out I was pregnant with her, but here we are with her walking about, pulling things off tables, and getting into all the trouble that one would expect a child made by Jack and myself would get into. Gone are the days of lulling her to sleep with Southern rock (as it was the only thing that would get her to stop crying in the early days) and now I get to listen to her baby-sing along with the songs instead.
Oh, my Morag.
I might only be twenty-three, but with a five-year-old and a one-year-old, I feel that it's still safe for me to say it -- they grow up too fast.
I will say, though, that there's little better distraction from the world at large than watching a little girl dig into a birthday cake face first.

[Warded to Cora Cornerstone]
I'm so sorry, honey. I know that means little to nothing at times like these, but know that I'm thinking about you and let me know if there's anything that I can do to help you out. I usually send people food, but I didn't know if you'd want my lackluster cooking compared to anything you might make.

It makes me really angry to think about how we try to live in this world peacefully, but then you turn around target family members. Family members that have nothing to do with magic, outside of the misfortune of being related to one or two witches and wizards that didn't even ask for it. How dare you make us sit and wonder on a daily basis if it's going to be our family members next. How dare you make us feel as though it is our fault, when we did nothing but
It's just
Fucking hell.
You know what? Nevermind. Apologies for the mess.
